Liliana Frandsen

Liliana’s therapeutic style is warm and genuine. She uses humor, storytelling, and creativity to support her clients. Her approach is unique to each individual and pulls from multiple modalities to serve the whole person. She uses psychodynamic and attachment theories to look at how early childhood experience inform current challenges in relationship with self and others. Somatic interventions incorporate the body and help deepen emotional experience while supporting safety and repair. Her training has been steeped in Jungian/depth psychology, which uses archetypes, myth, and artistic expression to understand challenging experiences in the context of universal human patterns. She also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to offer practical mindfulness tools to change distressing thought patterns. All of her work is affirmative and social justice oriented.

Liliana earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. She completed her clinical training at the Women’s Clinic Counseling Center in Los Angeles before transitioning into work with high schools in the LA Unified School District. There, she worked one on one with adolescents and led teen LGBTQIA+ groups. She is also an artist and researcher. Her current published research explores creativity as a tool to foster post-traumatic growth.

Liliana is passionate about helping her clients navigate difficult emotions and find a deeper sense of self. In her current practice, she specializes in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and creatives in the entertainment industry. She works with queer, lesbian, bi, and trans identifying adults and adolescents in individual, couples, and group settings. They focus on issues ranging from identity, gender exploration, sexuality, relationship issues, to resilience. With her background in the arts, she is also well attuned to the unique challenges creatives face. Liliana supports her clients in working through creative blocks, navigating industry challenges, financial insecurity, substance use, and refining their creative voice.
