Individual Therapy
My clients and I work together, in partnership, to identify goals and embrace the power of change. Whether working with individuals short-term or long-term, I use psychodynamic theories, including object relations and attachment theory, to assist people in understanding how their past is impacting their present - both in experience and in individual beliefs. I believe that a deeper understanding and awareness of the Self and unconscious processes can assist in the individuation and self-actualization process. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy tools to assist people in changing their unhealthy automatic thought patterns and Mindfulness/Buddhist Psychology tools to help people get out of their heads so they can be more present in both their body and in their lives.
Additionally, I offer EMDR, a somatic and brain-based modality aimed to help in processing trauma and other symptoms through bi-lateral stimulation.
Relationship Therapy
My work with partners is influenced by Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I assist couples and partners (monogamous and poly) in understanding underlying dynamics, feelings, resentments and traumas at play. I provide psychoeducation on attachment styles and help all partners learn how to communicate directly, lovingly and effectively. I create a safe space, without shame, to explore issues related to sexuality, intimacy, insecurities/jealousy, infidelity, life transitions, and the common feeling of "things aren't like they were at the beginning.” I also have experience helping partners navigate the intricate process of family planning and infertility.
Just as not all partnerships involve two people, not all partnerships are romantic or sexual. I love helping writing/creative partners and business partners work through dynamics that are holding them back and causing painful and unproductive tension.
LGBTQIA Affirmative
If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I believe it is important to work with a therapist who specializes/has training in LGBTQIA Affirmative Psychotherapy for your healing and transformative therapeutic journey.
Through myth and LGBTQ history, I will help you reclaim what was lost, so you can experience a deep sense of empowerment, connectivity and mirroring. I will introduce concepts such as “The Double” and the “Sapphic Complex” to further explore your attachments, eros and relationship patterns.
